Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city to....

"Make an end of sins..."

This word means to close up/to seal up, to - stop - sins.

Remember, this passage is referring to Daniel's people (Jews) and to Daniel's holy city (Jerusalem).

It is "Jewish" sin that will be stopped.

According to Daniel 9:24, when the 70 weeks are finished - Jewish sin will come to an end.
